What is GST?
GST (Goods and Services Tax) is a comprehensive indirect tax levied on the supply of goods and services in India. Introduced on 1 July 2017, it replaced multiple cascading taxes like VAT, service tax, and excise duty. GST is split equally into CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST) for intra-state transactions, or charged as IGST for inter-state transactions.
