How LPG Subsidy Works
Under the DBTL (Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG) or PAHAL scheme, eligible consumers buy LPG at the market price and receive the subsidy directly in their linked bank account. This ensures transparent delivery of subsidies.
Subsidy = Market Price − Subsidised Price
Annual Cost = Subsidised Price × Cylinders per Year
Annual Savings = Subsidy × Cylinders per Year
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
Launched in 2016, the Ujjwala Yojana provides free LPG connections to women from BPL households. Over 10 crore connections have been provided, helping families switch from biomass to clean cooking fuel.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the LPG subsidy calculated?
The government sets a subsidised price for domestic LPG cylinders (up to 12 per year). The subsidy = Market Price − Subsidised Price. This amount is transferred directly to your bank account (DBTL/PAHAL scheme).
